Jo and I have spent the last couple of days in Devon at The Old Bakery/Paul’s Place trying to organise an Arts Festival (16th-18th Sept) to promote and raise funds for Paul’s Fund.
This involved meeting a lot of artists, talking about their work and seeing if they’d like to be involved in an art exhibition in Georgeham. We met a lot of people in the space of 3 days and some interesting characters as well (including a lovely 93 year old lady who kept giving us hugs, we felt very loved!)
My personal highlight was meeting an illustrator called Miriam Latimer (above image is from a book called Emily’s Tiger). She and her husband live in a house on top of a hill (with an amazing view) and they were both incredibly lovely as well. It was good to see someone’s working space and all her work everywhere on the walls. Her work is very colourful and vibrant, probably more so than if I had just looked it up on the internet. I feel inspired from the visit to go and create some nice images myself.
